Special electricity tariffs for commercial premises
In this article we will inform you about the different electricity tariffs for small, medium and large companies that can currently be found on the Spanish market.
What electricity tariff can you contract for your company?
When contracting a specific electricity tariff for a business premises, the user has to take into account different aspects such as the electricity consumption that is (or will be) made on a monthly basis, the machinery that is used and the electrical power that is needed.
For all users whose commercial premises consume a large amount of electricity, it is advisable to contract an electricity tariff in which the cost per kilowatt hour of consumption is highly discounted.
Another aspect that consumers should consider when choosing the electricity tariff for their business is whether electricity prices are fixed or variable. If you do not want to be surprised by electricity bills, the best option is to sign up for a tariff with fixed prices.
It is advisable to renew the contracted tariff every year. The marketing companies usually make offers for 12 months, so once that time has elapsed, they stop applying the discounts.
What tariff should you contract for your company upon the needed power?
The electrical power of the business premises will determine the type of electricity that can be contracted. Not all businesses require the same power, so there are different tariffs depending on the power range:
● Tariff 2.0: Contracted power of less than 10 kilowatts.
● Tariff 2.1: Contracted power between 10.00001 and 15 kilowatts.
● Tariff 3.0: Contracted power above 15 kilowatts
Optimising the contracted power in a business premises is something basic, since, otherwise, we will have power problems (if we have less power than necessary) or we will be paying too much (more power than necessary).
Electricity tariffs for businesses with less than 10kW of power
Business premises with a contracted power of less than 10 kW can contract the 2.0 access tariffs. Electricity offers for SMEs that correspond to this access tariff can be contracted with or without time zone discrimination.
Electricity tariffs for SMEs with a power of between 10 and 15 kW
Companies or businesses that have a contracted power of between 10 and 15 kilowatts (kW) and are connected to the low voltage electricity network can contract a 2.1 access tariff. The 2.1 access tariff can be contracted with or without time discrimination.
Electricity tariffs for companies with a power of more than 15kW
All those companies with a contracted power of more than 15 kilowatts can contract a 3.0A tariff. In this type of tariff, there are three periods (and prices) for the power term and the consumption term.
With this tariff, the customer can contract a different electrical power for each period, as long as one of them is higher than 15 kilowatts.
Is it better to contract a tariff with an indexed price or a fixed price?
Within the electricity market there are two types of prices, fixed and indexed.
Fixed price tariffs offer the customer a fixed price for both power and consumption for the duration of the contract.
Indexed tariffs offer a kWh price established by the wholesale market. In these tariffs, the customer will pay the same amount for energy as the supplier pays for electricity, to which a profit margin is added for the company.
